Terms of Service

These Terms govern your access to and use of Momento, including our desktop application, website, and optional cloud services (the "Cloud API").

Note: This is an early-stage product. Please review carefully and contact us if anything is unclear.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Momento, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Momento.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Momento.

If you use Momento on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Cloud API & Sign-In

Momento is desktop-first. Some features are optional and run through our Cloud API (for example: metadata extraction quotas and crash reporting).

To use Cloud API features, you may be required to sign in with Google. We do not offer a separate username/password system for Cloud API at this time.

Cloud API access may be rate-limited or quota-limited, and the limits may change as we iterate.

4. User Content

"User Content" includes PDFs, notes, citations, and other materials you import or create using Momento.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use and store any User Content you add to Momento.

If you choose to use Cloud API extraction, you may send limited text and images (such as selected pages) to our servers for processing. Please avoid sending sensitive information you do not want processed by a third-party model provider.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Momento to violate any law or infringe intellectual property rights.
  • Attempt to disrupt or compromise the security of our website or Cloud API.
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the Cloud API.
  • Automate requests to the Cloud API in a way that bypasses quotas or rate limits.

6. Third-Party Services

Momento may integrate with third-party services (for example: Google Sign-In and an OpenAI-compatible model provider for extraction). Your use of those services may be subject to their terms and policies.

7. Disclaimers

Please read carefully

Momento is provided "as is" and "as available". We disclaim all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Extraction results may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for verifying citations before use.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Momento and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Momento.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page.
